Limitless capacity! No waiting!
The recent fall from 129 minutes to a 119-minute national wait time gets the industry 83.33% of the way to being at full capacity!


A reduction of 17 minutes from the 2022 peak and over 10 minutes off the average of the pandemic has national wait times sitting at 119 minutes. This is the index’s lowest non-holiday point since June 2018.
Countless experts chimed in last year to explain that our capacity problems would be solved with just a 12-minute reduction in wait times.
Okay, well, how about 10 minutes? That’s 83.33% of the way there.
I don’t hear anyone talking about this as a contributor to the reduction in tender rejections.
It allows carriers to turn more loads and a driver’s time driving is significantly increased as an overall percentage.
The reduction of truckload volumes and the underlying driving forces are primary reasons why driver wait times are down and that is good for everyone.
However, these are not solutions to a problem that persists and one which will flex its ugly head again in the future.
Integration, efficiency, transparency, um…and memory? Or is wait time not sexy enough?
Sometimes the issue and solution are not as high tech as the industry needs them to be to attract effort towards a solution.
The folks at Opendock are attacking this issue. Who else?
