An incident involving a UPS CNG-powered tractor-trailer and an ambulance caused part of Georgetown Road near Citation Boulevard in Lexington, KY to shut down on Monday morning, Feb.20.
A Georgetown/Scott County ambulance was traveling down Georgetown Road with lights and sirens activated when a UPS tractor-trailer collided with the ambulance. The collision occurred at the intersection of Citation Blvd and Georgetown Rd.
The UPS driver told police investigators that his view was blocked by a box truck. This brings into question was the UPS truck tailgating the box truck or was something else at play here.
No damage was found to the Compressed Natural Gas cylinder array in the truck. The truck was towed away after
A patient that was being transported in the wrecked ambulance and one of the EMTs were placed in another ambulance and sent to the University of Kentucky hospital. The intersection was closed for most of the morning.
No information has been released about the driver and what charges he will face. Those decisions are awaiting results from after-accident drug testing.
