At around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Fire and EMS units from the Purchase and Port Chester Fire Department were dispatched to the interchange for I-287 and I-685 in West Harrison, New York to respond to a tractor-trailer that had rolled off the ramp. The rig had landed on top of a passenger van and had pinned its driver.

Rescue crews worked to extract the occupants of both vehicles, but the unnamed truck driver passed away from injuries. The driver of the van was removed from the wreckage and transported to a local hospital.

In a press release by New York State Police, they ask that any witnesses to please contact Investigator Hettinger at (914) 769-2600.
