According to news reports from KENS5 CBS, at 5:15 a.m. Central Time, a fire broke out inside the kitchen of the Flying J Travel Center at 1815 North Foster Road, San Antonio, Texas. The truck stop lies east of the city at I-10’s Exit 582, just before the I-410 interchange.
28 units from various fire departments responded to the fire, which had reached the attic and storeroom by the time they had arrived. The fire was very intense, as the flames were consuming the various oils, lubricants, and other petroleum products inside the building.
Fire did not reach the fuel island and underground storage tanks were secure. The exterior propane storage tanks were also not damaged.
At this time, we do not know if the trucks were evacuated from the parking lot. Redditor @nadiyah7 posted a picture of the fire from inside their truck, but did not say if they were asked to leave.
This is a developing situation and Back The Truck Up will update the article as details emerge.
