When we first heard there was a live-action Transformers movie on the horizon, a big question was “what kind of truck would Optimus Prime be transformed into?” In the films, he bounced between the classic cabover Kenworth K100 to Western Star’s 5700XE.
As a fan of Transformers, Joe Fiduccia of Pennsylvania made it his mission to build his own Optimus Prime. That customized truck, delivered in April 2016, is still rolling out helping to promote an anti-bully campaign to schools and doing charity work for children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.
In one of his Facebook blog posts, Joe talks about the hard work that went into building the newest member of his family. “I obtained my CDL just to drive Optimus. I chose to obtain legal permission from Hasbro to build it. With the help of many, we replicated Optimus using nothing more than photos on the internet of the screen-used trucks. And I did it on a budget.”

Beginning in 2019, Fiduccia and Team Prime have been traveling the nation. They have visited over 150 elementary and intermediate schools, delivering their bully awareness presentation to over 34,000 students.
Optimus Prime is a head-turner, for sure. Even the grown kids at the dealerships drop everything to have a look at the truck and help make sure the truck is in top shape to promote its message of peace across the galaxy.
