Live from the Future of Supply Chain!

Okay, we all hate it. That MS DOS-based dinosaur of an operating system that the freight industry JUST WON’T GET RID OF! One of my missions here at The Future of Supply Chain was to see if anyone was up to the challenge of replacing that bit of history with something more modern.

Behold, Platform Science is here with a demo of a whole IT build-out. From the home office interfaces to the ELD units in the truck cab, Platform Science can give you what you want, where you want, and who has access to it.

What you need, when you need it…

One of the important things Platform Science showed me was its ability to give you the modules you want. For a driver, you want the important stuff, an easy to use ELD on a modern tablet, not a 10-pound,  2-square foot box taking up valuable space on the dashboard. And they can add the apps or interfaces you like. Not happy with the GPS service? A quick update by a technician, soon to be handsfree, can swap providers.

Updates to software take place at around six-month intervals, and getting the fleet to “swing by the shop real quick” is a pain. So the ability to do these updates during off-time hours saves valuable time and keeps the wheels rolling. I’m adding Platform Sciences to my “companies to watch” list. Anyone helping put modern tools in companies, and drivers, hands has my attention.
