All of us at Back The Truck Up are saddened to announce that popular TikTok Trucker Steven “PissedOffTrucker” Hull Raley has passed away. News broke late Friday as Alex Mai of Asian Mai Show posted a tribute video to Raley. Hundreds of other tributes and loving memories have been posted over the weekend.
“Tell your loved ones you love them, ‘cause you never know when you’ll be called home”
Local news station KSNW posted July 13 that Steven Hull Raley, better known as “PissedOffTrucker” had passed away after an incident in northwest Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) stated that the tractor-trailer driven by Steven Hull Raley, 52, of Alabaster, Alabama, left the road.
The KHP said the rig went through the KDOT cable fence, and drove for a quarter-mile.It then turned and came back through the fence. The semi then crossed both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 and came to rest in the ditch.
Raley was taken to Citizens Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing his seatbelt, according to the KHP. He is survived by his wife, three children, and numerous other family members and friends.
Outpouring of support for his wife and family
Being an over-the-road trucker is difficult for families because their loved one is away from home a majority of the time. Homes can feel like they’re missing an important part of themselves without that father or mother there every night.
On Raley’s last video, he spoke about how important his children were to him. His son is getting married in October and he talked about how proud he was of him and his future daughter-in-law. He considered her his “fourth daughter.”
The hardest part is getting your loved one home
For some of us, the hardest part of life on the road is getting home. Hometime seems to be an issue that continues to berate the relationships between drivers and employers. False promises of that “two weeks out for two days home” continue to be a major reason that drivers change carriers.
For drivers that pass away on the road, that trouble is multiplied by an order of magnitude. Most insurance policies, either life or accidental death, do not cover the transport of the remains from hundreds or thousands of miles away. But there are charities that exist to help with that situation.
What is TruckersFinalMile.org?
TruckersFinalMile.org is a 501c3 charity that helps truck drivers and their families that have suffered loss of life, medical emergencies, or post-accident mobility needs. The organization helps make arrangements to get the remains of loved ones released from morgues and transported home.
TruckersFinalMile also helps with travel expenses and arrangements for family members to go to the hospital if the driver is injured and hospitalized. The charity also helps get them home after being released. TruckersFinalMile also works to modify homes for those drivers and family members that need ADA assistance improvements.
For those wanting to help get PissedOffTrucker home, you can send a donation to TruckersFinalMile.org. In the donations page, please add a note for “Dozer, Steven Hull Raley” so that it can be attributed to him.
