At around 7:20 a.m. Thursday morning there was a collision between an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) work truck and a dump truck in the town of Green, Ohio. A highway technician from ODOT was picking up debris along the side of I-77 when the dump truck veered off the roadway and collided with the ODOT work truck, creating a massive fireball that engulfed both trucks immediately.
Rescue teams had to extricate both drivers from the wreckage. Both were taken to trauma centers with life-threatening injuries. Watching the news feed, one can only guess about the cause. The incident is still under official investigation.
This is an example of why you need to have 360-degree awareness while you’re parked, driving, or simply traveling down the highways and byways. You never know if and when that split-second event will come that you need to react in order to save a life.
