Truck driving can be a stressful business to operate at times, especially when mileage rates are as low as they are now. It can and will push drivers over the edge and spark mental breakdowns.
Just before midnight on March 16, a bail bondsman recorded a white Freightliner Columbia driving around the Sacramento Courthouse blaring his horn. The trucker reportedly made over 10 laps around the complex before parking in the loading zone at 4:40 a.m. PDT the next morning.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was alerted to the trespass and when agents went to check on the truck, the driver refused to exit the vehicle. The Sacramento Police were then alerted and closed off several nearby streets, setting up a perimeter around the scene.
At around 7:00 a.m., the driver moved the truck out of the loading area and onto the street. Sacramento Police crisis negotiators were able to talk to the driver and have him come out and into U.S. Marshals’ custody at 9 a.m.
The reason for the driver’s outburst has not been disclosed as of writing this article. We will update you when more information is available.
