In Fort Myers, a Florida driver should consider himself lucky after his rig partially jumped a guard rail crossing over Alico Road on Friday, May 27. At about 8:30 a.m. EDT, the truck, which was traveling southbound on I-75, was in an accident in which its trailer went over the rail. This resulted in the cab catching fire, mostly likely (but not yet confirmed), due to the fuel tank rupturing and igniting by the hot exhaust system.

Alico Road was shut down after emergency personnel arrived on the scene. A Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) traffic camera was mounted on that overpass; therefore there is video of the incident. Official investigations are still ongoing, seeking to determine the cause of the incident. Also unknown is the cargo the truck was carrying at the time.
The truck cab was lowered from the interstate to the underpass below. The truck was barely holding itself together and looked to be a complete loss. I will update this article as more details become available.
