There are moonshiners in Virginia crying in their liquor stills right now. A full truckload of corn is spread across I-64 near Charlottesville after a collision between a box truck and a grain hauler. One person was extracted from a crashed vehicle (which vehicle was not revealed). Traffic was rerouted by VDOT onto Exit 124 – Highway 250 through Charlottesville and back to I-64. The backup reached about four miles before slowly clearing up.
As of 2 p.m., both travel lanes and the on-ramp from Hwy. 250 were open. The shoulder remains closed due to clean up and for wrecker services. This is a reminder on making sure to keep 360 degree awareness around your truck. Follow all safety practices and maintain safe following distances. You’re not going to stop all foolishness, but you need to do what you can to protect yourself. Dash cams and mirror cameras would help in a situation like this.
