Over on the infamous r/Truckers forum on Reddit, drivers are passing around stories of the weirdest and most ludicrous freight they have hauled. Truckers daily haul hundreds of loads of unusual and mysterious goods bound for parts unknown.
To start us off, when you think about hauling money around, one would surmise it’s handled by armored cars and U.S. Treasury agents. But not if you’re a fan of buying lottery tickets, as Redditor u/MN8616 tells us about his time hauling a mysterious roll of paper with maximum security measures in place on the trailer.
The next story comes from u/bubuslo who had the chance to haul some custom-made coffins. The unusual thing was the load had to be temperature controlled. Are sure those caskets were unoccupied?
A sad story on a business’s final shipment comes to us from u/Alec-Zander. An elderly businessman had to sell his store’s sporting equipment through an online auction. A neighbor helped the owner load his life’s ambition into only 1/8th of a 53-foot trailer. The Redditor says that he couldn’t look back as the owner waved goodbye to his dream. It was the only handwritten bill of lading the driver ever received.
Drivers have stories of freight they can’t mention, ever. It’s highly uncommon but some freight does require non-disclosure agreements. These loads usually involve the federal government or a private company wanting sensitive cargo moved.
Redditor u/D-Ray1469 talks about what little he knew about a load moving between military facilities. I just hope he doesn’t have someone knock on his door wanting to know if he forgot about the NDA.
