“Let’s put it on something cool like an old 60s!”
Tik Toking trucker and Edison Motors CEO and co-founder, Chace Barber is sick of waiting for electrification. Instead of “reinventing the lightbulb” (his Canadian turn of phrase) he’s looking towards retrofitting existing trucks with a system that works now.
His solution? A diesel-electric hybrid truck that can be built with minimal downtime.
Barber is a 14-year trucker and also knows a thing or two about energy as co-founder of solar installation company SEI.
While Chace isn’t trying to compete with OTR competitors like Hyliion, he does think Edison Motors can make a big impact in the logging and vocational space.
Is it a real viable product or just a quirky Tik Tok project? Their site states, “There are currently 1590 Investors and Edison has raised over $389,000 to fund the building of the electric truck.” With investment slots sold out, it appears that the Edison Motors prototype is on its way to production.

PS: One of Barber’s best pieces of advice was to not announce your company name on Tik Tok before securing said company name on Tik Tok.
