Investigators in Bartow County, GA are working to determine the cause of an incident that led to the deaths of two individuals on Thursday, Jan. 12. According to WSB-TV, the trucks were traveling northbound on I-75 near Cartersville, GA north of Atlanta when the flatbed slammed violently into the rear of the other tractor-trailer.
The force of the collision caused the load of the flatbed to break free and smash into the truck’s cab. It also caused the trailer of the truck impacted by the flatbed to break loose and crush the cab of that truck. Both trucks were soon engulfed in flames.
No report has been released on if the two individuals that were deceased were the truck drivers. Back The Truck Up will update this article as soon as more details are released.
A possible, but unconfirmed reason for the incident could have been due to the severe weather moving through the area on Thursday. High winds, blinding downpours, and driving too fast for conditions are often connected to collisions such as in this case.
