A Merry Trucker Christmas – The ol’ hot plate and cook pot

Having the ability to have a hot pot of water, soup, or stew in the winter on the open road is a big boon to have handy. It’s not only good for cooking, but also for sanitizing and hygiene.

Here’s a few picks that will be handy to have out on the highways and byways.

    NUWAVE Flex Precision Induction Cooktop

Hot plates have evolved over the years, going from coils like on a stove to the modern magnetic induction tops like the NUWAVE Pic Flex. With the ability to adjust its wattage draw from 600w to 1300w, it can adapt to whatever inverter you use in your truck.

There are safety features built into the unit as well. It will not heat up without a pot on the top to transfer the heat into and once the timer completes, the device will shut off.

You can use this link to check it out and see for yourself.

HOTLOGIC Mini Portable Oven, Food Warmer Electric Lunch Box with 12V Vehicle Plug

One cannot talk about cooking in the truck without mentioning the King of Hotboxes, the HotLogic Mini. This handy heater only pulls 4 amps at up to 50 watts, making it perfect for those without a 120 volt inverter.

It brings your food up to a piping hot temperature, then deactivates the heating pads to conserve power. That makes it great for trucks with EPUs running off solar panels.

Check out the 12 volt and 120 volt versions by following the link.

Ninja OL701 Foodi 14-in-1 SMART XL 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer

Now we’re breaking out the heavy artillery! For those with around 2000 watts of pure sine wave power, this beast of a cooker can handle any dish you can imagine. Air fry, bake, broil, steam, pressure cook, sous vide, whatever you want to do, the Ninja Foodi can make it happen.

Ninja Foodi is available in a few different sizes, with different levels of power draw. I personally used the 6 quart version in my Cascadia with a 1800w marine inverter. As long as the engine is on to help stabilize the power draw, it cooked perfectly. Check it out by using the link.

Aroma Housewares 20 Cup Cooked (10 cup uncooked) Digital Rice Cooker, Slow Cooker, Food Steamer

When you’re wanting something not as extreme as a Foodi to cook into the truck, the Aroma Rice Cooker is the perfect tool. It can heat up and cook rice, steam veggies, and slow cook a great pot of stew or chili.

Available in a multitude of sizes and having different options available, the Aroma Rice Cooker is a defiant must have in anyone’s truck. Use this link to check out the whole line of Aroma products.
