Fire investigators from the Oakland Fire Department are working to identify the cause of a large fire that engulfed eight truck cabs sitting inside the Port of Oakland complex Sunday morning. The initial call to dispatch was at 8:30 a.m. local time.
The fire occurred at 14th and Maritime, inside the TraPac Terminal, according to a post on Twitter by Oakland Fire. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters saw only trucks ablaze and not the trailers attached.
Soon after the first engine arrived and began to work containing the blaze, two reinforcement units arrived to help knock down the fire. Altogether, the fire was put out in under 30 minutes from when the initial call came in.
Smoke could be seen throughout the Bay area. Many took to social media to share videos of the huge black plume of smoke.
Police and fire investigators are working to find out the cause of the blaze. No information has been released so far.
