Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado are facing road closures, stranding thousands of cars and trucks as another blizzard crosses the Rockies. The blizzard warning currently runs from 2 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 through 5 a.m. Thursday Dec. 15.
Up to two feet of snow is expected in some areas, with winds of 40-50 mph. This will definitely cause zero to near zero visibility on roads, which are now shut to all travelers.
To make matters worse, some freezing rain is expected in parts of South Dakota, which will cause a layer of ice to form. This ice, when covered by snow, will create a massive hazard for all travelers.
Drivers need to be off the road as soon as possible as parking will quickly fill if it has not already been. Drivers should shelter in place at all times through the storm until roads have been cleared driveable by local officials.
Please do not attempt to drive in these conditions as you may face stiff penalties and possible violations or criminal charges. The load is not worth risking your life over.
